Record Breaker
Homeless Gunther Schmidt, 54, carried out 14 burglaries in one night and then handed himself into police after he'd been spared a prison sentence for breaking into a bakery in Meerane, Germany.
Schmidt said he'd burgled the bread shop so he would be jailed and have somewhere to live, but magistrates had told him the single offence wasn't enough for a custodial sentence.
"Maybe this will be enough for the court. I have no home and no money so prison is a step up for me," he explained.
